Sonnen borderline racebaited when he was challenging Silva and I'll never forget that, but he's legitimately good friends with Rashad, Cormier and King Mo (privately offered to pay his medical bills when he was dying of staph). If you've ever listened to his podcast, he surprisingly puts over black talent pretty often and more or less admitted his persona in the UFC was just an exaggerated heel character concocted to get attention (it worked). Not saying he's not a punk ass cac (he is), but he's not truly anti-black like Ortiz.

watching the fight you could tell once sonnen couldn't get the guillotine he wanted out and purposely put himself in a position to get subbed.In retrospect the whole thing was weird, random ass fight, no buzz or demand, piss poor pre fight trash talk (considering each fighters history) and then an uncompetitive fight that looked predetermined..
