what are we paying taxes for?
Black capitalists for all their posturing never seem to grasp this basic concept. Our relationship with the government is an exchange. We pay money to go towards services that benefit us as a society. It has to "take care of us" to an extent because without us it wouldn't even exist.

My question is: to what extent?

Some people seem to feel like the government has to pay for everyone's homes and fridges to be full.

If they're not "thriving" than the government is neglecting them...

It is the governments job to make sure you are safe and healthy. If we truly lived in a world where industries were totally de-regulated, you'd be miserable.

There would be no military obligated to protect you from a hostile nation. Hospitals would entirely be for profit and they'd refuse to treat you if you didn't bring money up front. Fire depts wouldn't put out your fire unless you had cash up front. The roads that aren't highways would be dirt with potholes everywhere and wouldn't get shoveled. Your boss could decide to pay you 5 cents if he felt like it, then send a hot one to your dome if you fixed your face to talk back to him and he'd pay his private security force to take your body to a ditch and dump it. If you had any health conditions, companies could decide 'aight, that insulin is 600 dollars a shot. Got a heart condition? That's 50 bucks per pill of metformin. Oh what's that? You got insurance. Aight they willing to pay 25% of the cost. That'll be 12.50 per pill.' Want your kid to go to school? That'll be 500 dollars a month for tuition. Can't afford that? Homeschool your kid then. Whats that? You need to be at work? Well thats your problem.

Oh and your land lord just raised your rent by 500 dollars. Why? He finna get a new Ferrari. Pay up or get the fukk out. He'll murk you if you don't and nobody will prosecute him cause aint no govt funded police.

57% of Households don't even pay Federal Income Tax :dead:

How could anyone expect the government to take care of them when they're not chipping in?

when you see disparities in distribution of those tax dollars and you see money going to "foreign aid"...yes, we should expect more. I swear we the only group of people sitting around having goofy ass pride about not accepting what is owed to us, while we continue to go backwards. The white american middle class was built on redistributing wealth and having the government take care of them. Trump said "Chinese Virus" and Asians immediately said "We need some money", but we get to black folks and we sit around talking bout it aint the government job to spend our own money on us.

edit: Major corporations and industries literally get bail outs, they don't sit around talking about we can do this on our own.

That's literally one of the government's job : to ensure the well-being of the citizens. To what extent is a never-ending discussion between the rich/selfish who believe it should only the bare minimum and the majority who usually push for more government action that would benefit the overall population.

One of the greatest tricks by the rich and powerful is to somehow convince the majority of the population that they are better off with less government intervention.
