@Benjamin Sisko doesn't get the respect he deserves. ..

But when you think about it he's actually the goat representation of black fatherhood we've had on mainstream American tv

-was part prophet. And a holy emissary.
-punched q straight in his shyt
-single handedly defeated an entire jem Hadar fleet by asking the prophets for a favor.
-is also responsible for the defeat of the dominion by bringing in the romulans.
-had the respect and loyalty of everyone in starfleet
-cooked fire gumbo
-he was strong and never emasculated.

I'd go farther and say the siskos are one of the best black families on tv. I always loved the episodes that has all three siskos together at once.

I agree, we haven’t seen this type of representation since Ghost, and he was mostly a villain.

There hasn’t been a positive black male father/protagonist in any serious science fiction or media outside of black family shows

That episode got me. Jakes whole fukking life was ruined because he couldnt let go, and sisko showing up made things worse. This one and the 40s one were real ass episode

Sisko was a great Dad, taught Jake to be his own man, and it was okay that he didn't try to follow in his footsteps. Respected his decision to be a reporter and helped him whenever he could...

One of the few Black Male role models on tv that was admirable.
