Hit Boy ruined his album. Should have just let Alchemist do the whole thing.

Really he should have never signed a deal in the first place. I don't know what made him think he could be a star. Signing to Def Jam in this era is idiocy.

Honestly I think Benny ruined his own album lol, but Hit Boy didn't really provide much. In terms of the Def Jam thing it really felt like an old dude living out his rap dreams by any means. Signing to Def Jam when you're 40 with zero ability to make hits/ladies tracks/etc...just a stupid move but for him that was his "mama I made it" moment lol.

I wonder what Hov thinks about how all these dudes turned up. Conway with zero artistic growth after flashing something that was very interesting/impressive (The Cow). Benny rapping the same way with the same rhyme scheme/set ups over and over again. Westside robbing nikkas. Just a wack turn of events. Meanwhile Roc Marci still thriving and making dope music yall....had to get that shot in there sorry.

Nothing but facts in this post. Repped.

Signing to a "major" when you already have a core fanbase and sound was dumb af. Hit boy is the most generic sounding producer of all time....I cannot stand his style of "sprite commercial type beats"

I'm not gonna be too tough on Griselda given that they blew up so late and with a hardcore sound, I'm glad we got anything. Period

But it does show that with most crews and movements (Wu Tang, Odd Future, ASAP, Griselda etc) that there are creative leaders and followers, and once they separate it becomes really clear who is who

I wouldn't even care if there wasn't much growth if they kept making dope shyt. Conway & Benny's last 4 or 5 projects all been duds. Gunn still can do it b/c he has the best ear for beats by a wide margin

True.

Bro is struggling. He doesn't have any direction, at all. Waste of talent.

He has to get back on track.
They all left the nest and they need to come back lol

Rome Streetz career is looking better than Benny because he knows who to collaborate with to keep building on his foundation

Drop the ego and let Gunn pick ya beats and album cover lol

Stop throwing subs at Freddie. Send a real shot at him and see what happens. It would be an exciting rap battle

This here.

I said the same at the time. He already had a nice indie following. But he wanted that advance bag from Def Jam. So he took it, but the album didn't do anything. So now he's in limbo until he recoups on a deal he shouldn't have signed in the first place. Like you said, there's absolutely no reason to even give Def Jam the time of day in this era. They're not gonna help you do sh*t. They're barely Hip Hop today.

:mjlol:

His beats are light in the ass and that's why he got exposed next to a real producer. Give those beats to a Big Sean type of artist and stay away.

Yeah, Rome took off!

He's definitely moved past Benny, at this point. Just seems he's more focused on the music, and not the social media antics, like Benny.

Nah, West is doing way better than Con and Benny. His last few projects were fire and he's literally making them in a few days. He has the best ear in all of hip hop and knows how to craft a project.

Musically he's trending up.

Conway has been laying low.

Benny derailed his career and is now releasing disposable music.

Benny needs to have a project curated by Gunn in the worst fukking way

I swear 90% of the east coast vets should be letting Gunn curate. He said he wanted to do it for Ghost, Rae, and the Lox but their ego. won't allow it. Then they put out garbage with a bunch of nobodies on production.

Yeah, Rome took off!

Rome seems content with his lane so he sticks to the script. He's not trying to reach the masses when he knows the underground can be lucrative if you just feed your audience what they want.

These guys are walking around with more jewelry than guys on majors so why Benny thought he needed mainstream acceptance in don't know. Like you said I think he wanted that advance more than anything.

The "ear for beats" thing expired awhile ago to me. Dude be rapping over the same slow ass drums on most tracks. There's a diminishing returns effect now where we need to just admit most of the so called amazing soul loops he raps over are not that great. It's the same shyt over and over and they don't even compare well to producers who actually master that shyt (past or present).

People been hyping Gunn way too long IMO.
