I know he’s a pariah but he has a point…multiple points. Unless you are laying out an actual criteria for Greatness that we can all take part in shaping and putting together in terms of credible categories, then how we rank rappers just in those individual categories, then decide what categories matter more or less than others, etc…then after all that, decide who is the best all around, then it’s really just some opinion/subjective shyt. And it is usually some outsider/cornball/unknown source coming up with these rankings a lot of times too, lol, why are they deemed qualified out of nowhere just because they got some Likes or sumn? Smh. The fans can argue and debate about it all day…but these people trying to do these “Definitive Best Ever” lists is fugazi

It really is stupid , I've always thought so.

"So and so is the 38th greatest rapper of all time" sounds so cac to me. :mjlol:

I understand why it's done tho....views and clicks.

I just read the lists for entertainment, if a rapper ranking list has ever made you legit MAD hold this L.

The majority of my favorite rappers will never see a mainstream top rappers list (elZhi for example) and I'm not mad at it and I couldn't care less.

All we could really do is have like a global poll.

A website where you have to qualify some kind of way and you get to name 10 MCs. Or you can have a few categories: female, group, whatever.

You get to submit your picks one time. Meaning no way to spam the poll.. somehow. But make the list able to be edited.

Then, the poll results are the results. Whoever gets named the GOAT most often is officially the GOAT.

Top 10. Top 100. All decided by the poll.

And. I guess you'd need to have it be dynamic to account for new acts over time. But you would maybe need to limit it to people with x amount of time in the game. Maybe 5 years?

Anyway. There's no objective measures per se. The results of the poll would prolly have a trend. Whoever the top 5 are would be largely agreed upon. Most will prolly disagree with number 1.

Think of deciding which color is the best one. More people may like blue the most, but you would have to do a poll to find out. And whoever likes orange the best will never agree.

You can at least make it more objective tho…not the music itself but ranking the musicians greatness
How so? Like someone may pick Stevie wonder over Michael because Stevie wrote more of his music and played instruments, while many of us don’t believe writing/instruments matter for a singer.

Someone else my value rhyme scheme over flow/delivery, how do you start ranking greatness when you can’t even rank criteria on which to grade people? And then how do you get to an agreed upon grade for each criteria?

It’s a baseless exercise
