Biden could have implemented Obama era policies to keep immigration under control and I don't think it would matter. The problem is far less about policy than it is about a massive media outrage airhorn that drives politics. Far right screeching always ends up reaching the mainstream networks, who then condition the public to believe whatever the right wants. Obama deported more illegal immigrants than anyone, had strong enforcement policies and guess what? Republicans still attacked him for "open borders." But at the time, that outrage airhorn was largely just Fox News and some old people on Facebook. By 2021 it was Fox News and all social media.
Mainstream media doesn't care about truth, they care about what people are saying. That's what Trump understands, and it's why he constantly says "people are saying." You get enough bullshyt agitators yelling and CNN/NBC/ABC/etc will cover it like a legitimate "concern" that needs to be addressed, regardless of the facts.

Republicans did block the bill, most likely to help Trump......but that happened in 2024! Biden was elected in 2020. I think presenting the bill was a last ditch effort by Biden to ramp up for the electionembarrassing lie. the border was a fukking clown show under Biden, and Trump brought down apprehensions massively, without that unncessary bill

Either way I don't get why ppl are in here mad at Bernie, the data is right there and obviously the border was an issue that hurt Democrats. On one hand ppl are mad at Kamala for not distancing herself from Biden to win an election but are now mad at Bernie for trying to distance the party from a mostly unpopular aspect of the Biden admin? Make it make sense

Which Democrat in office has actually endorsed open borders? Can you point to a single policy proposal from any Democrat that calls for eliminating border enforcement or letting anyone cross freely without regulation? Because that's what "open borders" would mean.

sadly, there's a few common sense issues that shouldn't be "republican talking points", but are
Obama turned deportations way up from Bush yet the talking points were open borders exactly as it were with Biden. Democrats better find a way to start to dictate the subject matter
