Arguably, battle rap itself has existed since the very early days of hip hop. The early cats had to battle in cypha's, wax, stage, etc. to see who was the best. Many of the guys from the early/mid 80's that had that background went on to have pretty damn good careers (LL, KRS). Moe Dee had a solid run till LL got em.
The early/mid 90's had more of the same when you consider cats like (DMX, Jay, Busta) but around that time a separate genre started to emerge where people were pretty much solely battle rappers (think Supernat) vs. rappers that had been in battles.
From that time, who do you think is in the best of all time? Or who's on your Mt. Rushmore of Battle Rappers?
My Criteria is longevity, consistency, versatility, and ability to win over the crowd
I'll start with my list:
Mook
Clips
Lux (even though he's been fallin lately IMO)
Jae Millz
Yes I considered Hollow,Goodz but they aint make the cut.
