Nashville is over a quarter black, so if you can go a whole day without seeing another black person, is Nashville heavily segregated?
YES!

When you in the white part. It's white folks...I worked in a rich part (golf cart, Whole Foods, etc.) and maybe you'll see Indians or whatever

Where I live now, there's a mix of white folks, Latinos (especially in the shopping centers)

I gotta cross the interstate and go Northwest to find the black parts

The closer you get to Nashville, the less black folks you see

It's weird

I have no idea what part of Nashville that you live in that you don't see Black people for a whole day. I don't know of any actual city in Tennessee where you can go a whole day and not see any Black people. You must be living on the Westend or some place over there, but even then there are plenty of Black people over there.

In general I don't think Tennessee is a great state for black people, but I think Nashville is one of the greatest cities for us nationally. It's an amazing city with outsized entertainment options for its size...

Nashville is also alot more culturally black than most people realize, a whole lot of black history and black success there. I almost moved here on a whim 11 years ago and a small part wishes I would have. Nashville is basically a mash-up of Atlanta, Charlotte, and Raleigh, with a slight dash of Memphis. A really culturally diverse and vibrant city...

I like Knoxville but our people here are going thru it, I definitely wouldn't characterize Knoxville as great for black people...

@rbksNgirbauds hop in and tell us about Chat Town, I've never been. @Easy-E can tell us more about Nashville in depth, any other Tennessee posters or people familiar with Tennessee tap in!
I've always considered Chatt the type of city you move to when you ready to settle down. It's a tier below the big cities, but you a hop and a skip away from em with Nashville 2hrs always, ATL 2, Knox 2 , Memphis bout 5, Charlotte bout 5, if you have an appetite for it. But it's just enough to do if you have kids or what not. Not much of a night life to speak of, it's a couple clubs but nun crazy.

As for crime, long as you got good sense you'll be aite. shyt usually go on in the same concentrated areas.

Entertainment, lol. Like I said , the major cities right round the corner so that's where the entertainment at. It was a big deal that Webbie was here a few wks back ...with some fake designers on 😂. Shout-out to Savagelife tho.

Chatt chill. It's opportunities here to make yo bread and stack cuz the cost of living ain't much. It's home to me tho so I like it.

I ont know much bout West TN. Really shouldn't be out there unless you got folks out that way anyways.

Nashville, I love Nashville. I pull-up at least once a year. That city super vibrant and lively It's always something going on. It just cost like a bytch to stay out there, but is plenty of a black presence out there. Loads of transplants.

Knoxville, trash.

All in all, I wouldn't call TN a rest haven for black people necessarily, but I'm sure it's worse states for us in comparison. City living at least. I stay out of them hick towns

Arkansas is definitely worse for black people 🤣. I've been to other states I haven't lived in that are also much worse for black people than Tennessee...

I'd like to visit Chattanooga. Seems like a smaller city I'd enjoy...

Memphis folks shyt on Memphis all the time breh, yeah is the largest metro with a high Black%
Corrupt leadership and the State Government neglect slowed down economic progress here.

Though from my perspective its on the come up, Ford EV plant, renovated airport/ convention center, new Art Museum, new development: One Beale Complex, Orleans Station, Snuff District, The Walk, Butler Row, 18 Main, PGA Tour, now The Rock is shooting his show here, some of P-Valley's cast and creators are from here, the music scene is on the national spotlight now.

Public schools bad tho, Whitehaven, WhiteStation, Central and Germantown top. Most upperclass folks send they kids to private schools like Lausanne, Christian Brothers or Briarcrest.

Nashville is nice, tho most people I kno that lived there, actually lived in Murfreesboro. Its full of transplants now, cost of living has soared, you can go on Google Maps and see the Gentrification. Beware working class; especially black folks, getting priced out.

I got a cousin that lives in Knox, which is UT city, he says its boring but the crime is low, mountains are beautiful, so he likes it.

I know noting about Chatt except people there love to hike and thats where Samuel L Jackson from.
Nashville definitely became a transplant city.

And I don't know what city it is, maybe Chattanooga, but there is a weird spot on the highway where you leave the stateline and end up back in the state before eventually leaving the state again lol

Just moved to Franklin about a month ago for a job in downtown Nashville.

Franklin is nice but there ain’t no black people out here whatsoever. I still need to find the late night spots where we go because I can go days without seeing at least one phat ass.

That’s right outside of Chatt on I-24. You’re in Tennessee then stick your toe in Georgia for a split second before getting back into Tenn heading to Nashville. You experience a time zone change there too. Used to work for a flooring company that had a warehouse right out there. That time change used to get me
