It still sound pretty decent in terms of clarity. Most albums that fall victim to this have so much compression and clipping to their production (see Metallica's Death Magnetic).

Death Magnetic is an extreme case, but Fishscale is still compressed to fukk, and one of the most compressed rap albums of the 2000s. If you think it sounds "clear" than you don't understand dynamic range at all and how a rock song takes up way more sonic space than hip-hop production. Open some Fishscale songs in an audio editor you will no doubt see it.

The Champ was pretty brutal on my ears though, I will give you that.
