For the poll vote the best part of your city, in the comments explain why and also tell what the worst side is!
I live in North Raleigh, which is comprises of 3 sides: Northeast, Midtown, and Northwest. I live in Midtown/North Hills, close to the Northwest line though (Glenwood Ave)...
North Raleigh is the most popping geographical area of Raleigh. First of all its the largest area and it's a city until itself within the city, like 263,000 people live up here on The North. Both malls in Raleigh are over here, one in NER and one in NW (I can walk to this one). Best shopping and dining is over on this side, crime is pretty low, and there's still a good sized black population here (North Raleigh overall is around 19% black which is about 50,000 black folk on this side)...
This is also by far the most ethnically and racially diverse part of Raleigh, especially the Northeast, where you have representation of all racial backgrounds and dozens of ethnicities...
The worst part of Raleigh is West Raleigh, which is where NC State is. Just way too many white people and not enough entertainment options, though it's directly adjacent to Downtown which is a plus...
Honorable mention, South Raleigh overall (SW x SE) is pretty cool, I think they have the best parks in the city. Southside has around 118,000 people, is about 40% black (Southeast is around 61% black). Higher violent crime rate but not as high as gets characterized, there is no real "no go" zone in Raleigh. And the character of the Southside and Southeast is just more comfortable and appealing because it's Black As fukk, but The South is largely a food and entertainment desert, you gotta leave South Raleigh to find the best stores, markets, restaurants in town...
May double back later on other cities I've lived! What's the illest geographical region of your city, and what's the worst?
