Californ-i-a by way of BK
Killing Me Softly isnt rap but it was done by a Hip Hop group. That would be my pick.

But its a tie between California Love and Crossroads.

No Diggity is also a 96 anthem.
Yeah only reason I didn't put Killing Me Softly because there's no rap on the song but word. And there's a one song per artist rule (They could feature on another song but they can't be the main artist on more than one)

Classic Niccas
two dope lists in a row.
I like every song on here except "if I ruled the world", but of course that's a lock.
no big complaints but ive been told to give my own lists in every thread, so here we go...........

again, we need some female flavor in these polls. we havnt got any yet.
kim & foxy's leads at the end of the year were HUGE. "no time" and "get you home"(or you could've snuck jay in here on foxy's back with "aint no niqqa")
outkast & do or die would have to be the odd men out.

"hit em up" was the biggest controversial record, but of course, pac is already on the list.
with that said, I would've went with "new York new York" over "bow down".
EDIT: does "I shot ya" count for '96???

Outside of Crossroads, no song got more video play than Woo Hah. That shyt literally was number 1 everyday on them countdown shows

yep.

just to show how serious that song was, I remember at the top of the year when it dropped; I had a long list of albums I wanted by some of my favorites. bone thug, dogg pound, the twinz, ONYX, 2pac, etc, soundtracks, another list of r&b. but I could only choose one joint.

I was in that store debating for like an hour. I walked out with busta album off the strength of woo-hah(and the remix video w/ ol d b might've been out as well).

with that said, I think this is when I soured on busta rhymes, because I was disappointed that nothing sounded like woo-hah. plus, when I copped those albums ahead of it on my list, most of them were classics, while busta's was dope but not on that level.

I’m legit stuck as what to pick :mjcry:
I love nearly all these records (Fugees can :camby:) but I don’t love them the way I do say “Punks Jump Up” for example. :to:

I remember being the only nikka in school who didn't like that Outkast song :yeshrug:

Crossroads was constantly in rotation. Easy E died in 95, then it dropped, then Pac died and it made it that much stronger.
