Enlighten me, brehs. :manuehh:

I've got the Echo Dot and was already planning on upgrading my TV sound with a high end soundbar/sub combo (looking at Bose Soundtouch 300 vs. Sonos Playbar at the moment, but open to other suggestions).

However, I want to be able to connect my Echo Dot to the new soundbar wirelessly. I could get Sonos Playbar/Sub for about $400 cheaper than Bose through a connect, but Sonos does not have bluetooth capabilities. There are rumors that Sonos will be rolling in some updates to make it more compatible with Alexa, but not sure how long that will take.

Anybody have this type of setup going yet? If so, any additional devices that made setup easier (I'll probably be looking to add smart lighting in the near future as well).

I got a cheap Jensen sound bar hooked to one of my Dots, and a full Home Theater HD receiver hooked to another Dot, so I'm confused by your question. Any bluetooth sound bar or bluetooth audio adapter to a receiver should work with Echo Dot

I'm just trying to make sure that the fact that I'm using the soundbar for both TV playback and Echo audio output won't create any issues. I don't have a receiver for the TV that I'll be connecting the soundbar to, and wanted to make sure something like that wasn't necessary. Basically want a setup where if I turn the TV on, I've got my volume running through the soundbar, and then when the TV is off, I can run music through Echo Dot on the same speaker.

Sonos is jacked up (if I went that route) because it doesn't have bluetooth capability.

Number one. Sonos is a FAR better investment than Bose. Unless u like shrill high end with paper cones. That would be the only reason to cop Bose. Sonos is not only a better investment sound quality wise. It's also better in the long term when it comes to ur household audio being that once u get the bridge u can just keep adding on and expanding ur household audio.

Standalone, I agree Sonos would be the way to go. I'm wondering how well it can pair with the Dot without bluetooth capabilities. Just trying to figure out how to link smart lights/echo/soundsbar, etc. efficiently.

Most sound bars have rca inputs and/or optical to run from your tv. The only issue you'll have is having to switch back and forth between inputs. I have a Harmony Hub so mine switches inputs automatically, depending on what I tell the Echo to do
