Looking for insight into what state you all would recommend for forming an LLC in for a business providing consulting/services. Looking to take into account annual fees required by the state, any tax considerations, etc.

NH is $100 for the annual report and no taxes. Your business has to have a NH address but you can find a registered agent for $50 a year and he can register the business to his address and will forward any mailings to your home address.

What about for non us residents outside USA?

Why not just form where you are? I think in some states, at least in California, you're supposed to register as a foreign LLC or foreign corporation if you transact in the state.

Matter fact, might as well keep it simple and file as a sole proprietorship, unless you have employees.

Some states are more favorable than others. I don't really agree with the sole proprietorship idea because of taxation considerations.

It seems rule of thumb is to avoid blue states with large democrat- ran cities i.e LA,Chicago,New York, etc...

When I was in college and worked in wireless I noticed alot of old white guys would start "consulting" businesses and pretty much use them as vehicles to write off all of their daily costs on. Wont you have to show some sort of income from the business?

Like I was thinking about starting a business for selling stuff on Ebay and Amazon to take advantage of the potential write off opportunities, but I wasn't sure if you had to make a certain amount of income before they let you write any and everything off.
