the question though is which was a better hit. Through that lens, saying Quiet Storm isn't as crazy. Shook Ones is a more iconic record, but to me Quiet Storm feels more like a "hit" single

It didn't even go gold tho.

S.Ones is plat

that's fair. Seems hard to believe in hindsight that Quiet Storm didn't go gold even. I just checked the youtube views and shook ones definitely has like 6x as many views
Ehhhh... If it was streaming era, that would matter. But by 1999, I'm pretty sure people just bought the whole album instead of CD singles. According to Wikipedia, the CD single for "Quiet Storm remix" dropped a couple months after the "Murda Muzik" album dropped, so you gotta assume most people who fucced Quiet storm remix just got the album.

"Quiet Storm Remix" is probably the biggest reason "Murda Muzik" went Platinum. P said in an interview the Lil' Kim record brought out more female fans than he had ever seen at Mobb concert. They're both classic but nothing is topping "Shook Ones II". It was their highest charting single until "Hey Luv" with 112 topped it. "Shook Ones II" was unlike anything you've ever heard. The beat and rhymes is flawless. "Quiet Storm" is popular sample with "White Lines". So again I give the nod to "Shook Ones II". What's funny is both records remix outshined the original. Shout out "Quiet Storm" and "Shook Ones Part 1".
