This has been going on for decades. You admit your loved one into a nursing home and they will try to get you to sign papers that make you responsible for any outstanding billing. They will lie and say," Oh, this is just so we have an address to send any notifications to...", even when the state has written laws that the family of the admitted aren't responsible for outstanding bills. Nursing homes make the bulk of their money from Medicare and Medicaid. The workers act and look like they are part of an inmate worker assignment. If you care about your elder family members, avoid nursing homes, they will do them dirty. My mother broker her leg and spent a month in one.
