They had no other choice but to do the extension based on the fact that even they have no clue what those student loan companies who are cancelling their student loan contracts are going to do. They had no actual plan for that exact reason and you can easily tell because they kept using the phrase "weeks and months" to roll out their plan when the time just wasn't there to do so.
