Man you coulda read the article before you posted that. Those sanctions had nothing to do with sanctions against Saudi Arabia for their treatment of homosexuals. It's about sanctions for the journalist that got murked.

Your overall point about the lack regard and respect for LGBT is true. The issue is that the sanctions being put in place are dishonest and have an ulterior motive, and are hypocritical and full of shyt. US only punishes African nations for this, never Saudi Arabia or Israel because hint hint: the money/business/oil/resources. Doing this is another excuse to cripple African nations that are developing and to make it easier to despose their leaders and overrun their lands with western corporations, not because they actually care that much about LGBT.

But sanctioning an already compromised country does not do that. I feel like you set up this dichotomy where it's either "do sanctions to prevent homophobia" or "don't do sanctions, but keep homophobia". What I am saying is "don't do sanctions because it's in bad faith and they have an ulterior motive with it, and find other ways to encourage the country to legalize and accept gay marriage".

They enjoy the HUMAN rights of their culture and their land. Also, economic and financial punishment shouldn't result as a result of them not being on the same socially as the west. Less than 100 yrs ago Black people in America were hanging from trees so who is the usa to be a moral compass?
