In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, the final passage of the 2014 law against homosexuality — which makes same-sex relationships punishable by 14 years in prison and makes it a crime to organize or participate in any type of gay meeting — is widely regarded by both supporters and opponents of gay rights as a reaction to American pressure on Nigeria and other African nations to embrace gay rights.

“The Nigerian law was blowback,” said Chidi Odinkalu, chairman of Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission and the senior legal officer for the Africa Program of the Open Society Justice Initiative, which supports gay rights on the continent. “You now have situations of gay men being molested on the streets or taunted. That was all avoidable.”

Violence against gay Nigerians has increased significantly, according to the country’s National Human Rights Commission. Most are attacked in the open by groups of men, some of whom call themselves “cleansers,” rights groups say.

But victims often do not report attacks for fear of being outed. Even men infected with H.I.V. are often reluctant to seek treatment at hospitals, fearing that the authorities will be called, said Stella Iwuagwu, executive director of the Center for the Right to Health, an H.I.V. patient and rights group based in Lagos.

“Before, these people were leading their lives quietly, and nobody was paying any attention to them,” Ms. Iwuagwu said. “Before, a lot of people didn’t even have a clue there were something called gay people. But now they know and now they are outraged. Now they hear that America is bringing all these foreign lifestyles. They are emboldened by the law. The genie has already left the bottle.”

I know these articles don’t specially state Ghana but to think it doesn’t happen there but other African countries is naive.

I am certain extreme homophobia are just expressions of latent homosexual desires :manny:
:scust:gotta put them to death for that predatory fakkitry aka rape.

“We are going to police Ghanaian morality but not Saudi Arabia?” - We need Saudi Arabia, we need their resources and have access to great wealth. A competitive force in the UN. Going after Ghana seems to be political fanfare. Big Tech has their hands all on this admin. I voted for him, I voted for the first time for the guy. They’re turning him into a liberal democratic hero. For some reason his strategy is alienating the far right altogether along with casualties with the center right/independents. I call them fencers. He’s covering all his bases. take a look at his first 6-7 weeks. He’s gone through every minority community. He got us buzzing with these reparation “conversations” repealing anti Latino laws from trump (reuniting families) COVID relief, and now he’s blowing glitter in the air for LGBTQ community with these “threats”. He’s bluffing.. and letting Ghana know to ‘tread lightly’. I’d be lying if I said he’s doing less than Trump, but this seems to be a lot of posturing, too..

What this signals is that they can't send demonic nasty culture to Ghana (Where many of us are relocating to) to control their economy and politics by spreading liberal propaganda.

So they virtue signal, bully and call out the base of alphabet people to do their worst.

No smoke for Abdul tho.

Because they know Abdul will come looking for Biden.

African countries need to become more unified and build an army to fight the Western influence. It's not going to be good for them down the road.

What we call the West today is just an extension of the Roman Empire. It never fell completely, it just evolved.

There ain't nothing wrong with us as African descendants. There's something wrong with those people descending from the Roman Empire with that same mindset. They don't look for anything but to cause destruction.

This is sitting on the Capitol building in D.C. and you want to tell me the Roman Empire is not around anymore? Columbia formerly known as Libertas.

Why sanction Ghana? Why not sanction Saudi Arabia or Israel :pacspit: but we already know why :demonic:

I support the LGBT community but are you really gonna sanction and cripple the economy of a developing nation that is already undermined by sell-out leaders and western corporations that already stifle the economy as is? The citizens there are going to suffer more than they already do

Saudi Arabia is definitely HOH but I didn't think Israel was.

#FreeGhana.
