For example, every working class person who retired with a house and a 401k is proof capitalism works. Those 401k distributions in your 60s are the result of investment in REITs, stocks, mutual funds, mortgage backed securities, etc for decades.

I dapped you becasue I agree with your overall message, but most folks learn all that way too late to capitalize (hah) on it.
But the quoted is only proof it used to work for the people who got in early.

And even the people you mentioned, I see them working at Home Depot and as secretaries because all their investments didn't help them when medical bills started to pile up.

Now toss in general cost of living and inflation going crazy. Your ass was retired for five years maybe.
Record low unemployment rates. High participation in the work force. CPI/inflation falling, and will reach normal levels before the holiday season. Surprising increases in manufacturing jobs. Rising pay for workers.

If Trump was president, a lot of people here - including the faux leftists - would be celebrating the data.
Again, the article mentions this.

Folks look at the numbers and believe everything is ok.
But real people, not data, are suffering hard right now.
Have you tried looking for a job in this climate? It's a battlefield of shadow jobs and shytty recruiters.
Needing three part time jobs is not the wave, but I guess it looks good on paper.
Rising pay is going from $7.25 to $10. You are are still broke because again inflation. Rising rents. You do not get to enjoy that money.
