I don't know. Outkast is a brand.
People always say that Andre would be some star solo, but it doesn't work that way all the time. He's clearly the favorite of the two, but I don't know if people would flock to him as a solo artist. I think the reason why we haven't seen him do that, is he knows it wouldn't be the same. Outkast is what people want, not these two cats solo.
Like I said, OutKast is greater than the sum of its parts.
That said, Andre 3000 has already proven through The Love Below that if fans are gonna gravitate towards any one person by himself, it will be him. Eventually we'll wanna hear new OutKast, but there's a buzz when Andre 3000 gets on a track, a buzz we don't get when it's Big Boi.
Andre 3000 just seems disenchanted with the business. If Andre 3000 could be like any artist, he'd probably wanna be like Sade. She gets to put out any batch of 10 songs whenever she wants. She can wait 10 years yet when she drops, everyone's there ready to cop. No pressure, no deadlines. When it's ready it's ready, and in hip-hop we simply won't wait that long.
