Big Boss/Naked Snake is Solid, Liquid, & Solidus' "pops" since all three are results of the cloning project, Los Enfants Teribles. Liquid and Solid were twins(Liquid was the superior twin and Solid was the inferior twin), and Solidus was just a 3rd(perfect) clone birthed from the project at a later time who goes on to be George Sears(the prez).

Big Boss and Solid Snake are pretty much splitting images of each other in their youth, but they are two different people entirely, and as their stories unfold through the games they differentiate from each other(most notably, Big Boss wears an eyepatch in his youth and smokes cigars primarily while Solid doesn't rock an eyepatch and smokes cigarettes).

I wanna say both. Snake killed Big Boss TWICE!

But Big Boss went through so much shyt that would break make Solid Snake rethink his life. Plus, he got killed twice and still lived long enough to make a 1 hour reappearance and squash the beef with his son.
