"I Used to Love HER" was a much better song. And classic!

"What They Do" was always corny to me. What made it worse, was that The Roots tried to take shots at people and then got scared and denied it later. A lot of underground dudes were doing suspect sh*t like that in '95-'96. It was always wack. Huge Roots fan back then, but never liked that move or song.

I disagree on What They Do. While the video was portraying one thing, the song was not. The song clearly stated "I do this for a living, so don't come into it unless you have the same appreciation and dedication" The song was attacking the industry plants, the create-a-rapper. Thought said in every verse about being creative and original. The video was satirizing the industry of the create-a-rapper playing off the song, even though it came off another way. I don't think they ever attacked any specific brand of hip-hop. Common on the other hand, did.

I said the same thing in '96 as well, when there would be discussions.
