And this is what I've feared. I'm scared he has peaked and he's going to keep on creating the same ol records and songs.

You damn right. Im one of them. saw him with Smoke DZA and Freddie Gibbs back in 2011.I think KRIT is fully aware he's not going to blow. It's the conditions of his contract with Def Jam that he hated the most. Like he said in the song, KRIT hardly had a budget because he never needed one -- he produces the vast, vast majority of his music and writes all of his material. He's got good working relationships with heavy players in the South, so I doubt the price tag on his features was that high. Plus the label taking an absurdly high % of his album sales from him when he's the one composing all of the music. Not to mention touring and other income that KRIT generates that Def Jam gets to chip away at.
It's about his paper and integrity. I doubt he cares much about blowing. Cadillactica sold close to 60,000 copies with zero radio play. KRIT has a niche fan base that will buy his music, whether he's independent or signed.
I can name tons of artists that were in the history books that were never on a major. Bands and groups too.nah
majors are very much necessary for artists who want to be in the history books
He doesn't need a label to hold his hand, he has the southI agree. I'm glad he's come to that conclusion and truthfully, you have to be at peace with that before you decide to go about it that way. Too many fans expect you to go that route even if you still tryna blow.
KRIZZLE. No more sample clearances![]()
