his place in HipHop.

  • First Latino rapper to go platinum
  • Capital Punishment is a classic album nominated for a Grammy
  • Lyrical beast and regarded as one of the best MC's
  • Was put on by Fat Joe and formed Terror Squad who came out with a collaboration album called "The Album"
  • Yeaah Baby was his second album which didn't do as well as CP commercially or critically but still had some dope songs.
Is he top 5 or 10 on your list or on it at all? Definitely died too soon and I think still one of the most skilled MC's to ever do it.

one of the greats and also captial punishment his is best work most definitely imo.

and for me he top 5 top ten just off his lyrics and like i said he got a classic in captial punishment

and his guest features on songs like banned from tv hidden hand and off the books.wishful thinking are ridiculous.

Pun was dope. Not really a favorite of mine but I respect the skill. I'm more amazed at the fact that he made superb commercial records that were still 100% hip hop (something lyrical miracles always claim is impossible). "Still Not A Player" is a fantastic song. So is "It's So Hard" and "100%".

I fukking love beware -

I'm callin' out any rapper that I doubt, smack 'em in the mouth
Throw 'em in the yoke, BOOM!, then I knock 'em out

so many syllables in these two lines rhyme then dudes do entire verses and careers on they albums imo.

even though its a small window, that stretch from his first guest verse through P to the TS album..thats is the nicest rapper ever.

going to visit my grandparents, buying Capital Punishment (also bought War Report, OB4CL and i think Juelz first album) getting on a bus or train, putting my earphones on, putting it on and the atmosphere from the Intro that i'd later find out to be from Fresh to, this menacing beat coming on, the "I gave you fair warning....BEWARE" sample and then this boomin voice just go in...pft. forget about it...only rapper that ever really blew me away when i first heard them.

R.I.P to Pun. One of his most memorable verses, and one of my favorites, has to be on Wishful Thinking where he touches a lil bit about the abuse he put his wife through:

Yo, I walk on water
spit fire and shyt Haagen-Dazs
idolize no man like Conan and stand beside the Gods
be larger than life, twice as nice as your idol
pump you with pride, then guide you straight to hell like the bible
I'm liable to start manipulatin' minds infiltrate and climb
out the pitfalls of life entice with nickle plated nine
it seems every time I dream I'm in a nightmare
I fiend to live in a world of mothers and queens of men would fight fair
[Fat Joe:] Hell Yea!
I wish I could, I wish I could
never forget this whole damn world ain't shyt, not just the hood
yo I'd change my life make my wife forget the tears from the pain
and physical abuse, give her back her best years
grab my chest hairs, pound my fist on the hard cement
spark the scent, and cloud the sky till my heart's content
repent and vow she'll be forgiven
how could we be proud to live in a world
which condemns man, child, and women

:wow:
Top 5 lyricist. Made great music too. Rare combination which made him great. Beware is one of the rawest sounding songs I've ever heard.
