How did he son Barney Frank?
I thout it was interesting that Maher called Jay out for biting New Rules.
I wonder if Fox News will run with the Obama owes me favors quote.

Frank thought he was the expert on public housing until Jay-z made it clear not only did he understand it from his (public services) stand point but he actually lived in Marcy.

To me it felt like a slap down from someone who actually lived it vs someone who is looking at it from his cushy office in DC (or what was his cushy office in DC)

I got the sense that Jay wasn't really listening to Barney's point, which was regardless of how long one is supposed to stay on public housing, or whether jobs are necessary for the people in public housing, more police are wanted and necessary. Jay didn't really have an answer for that. He was more speaking on a general, slogan level (we need jobs) but didn't wade into specifics about allocating scarce resources amongst police protection and job creation.

I didn't get the sense that Jay sonned him, but I was impressed with how Jay handled himself outside of the direct interview portion. His commentary on instability stemming from the loss of the middle class was poignant.

Still, how much of Bill's ideas gonna come out his fat lips?

His answer was to give people more jobs so they could move out of the bad areas or turn to crime to feed themselves. That is a fair rebuttal. You wanted Jay to elaborate even though Maher changed the subject?

To me him making it clear 'I lived it vs you read statistics' was a sonning. Jay-z was excellent on this show and is actually very good with the media. All his interviews from Howard Stern to David Letterman to Bill Maher are all top notch.

We need more jobs is a pretty empty answer wouldn't you agree? And Barney immediately agreed with him but said in the short term more police are necessary. I don't recall if Maher moved on at that point, you may be right that Jay might not have had the opportunity to respond at that point. Still he was dead silent for about the last five minutes.

I recall him saying he was from Marcy in the context of making a point that public housing was supposed to be temporary. I don't recall him explicitly saying - I lived it - you didn't. Maybe I glossed over that. Was it really explicit and disrespectful? Then it would be a sonning.

He didn't specifically say 'I lived it you didn't' when Frank started to talk about it the look on his face and his response "I lived in Marcy projects" said it all. You could feel the 'You've never lived it' beaming off his forehead.

I didn't perceive it that way at all. Oh well...it is what it is.
