I think he wants his music to be exclusive like his shoes...

90% of the regular Black folks over 30 on my Facebook haven't even heard the album yet or even know that it's been released...

The same type of folks that were quoting Drake lines a week after his last album dropped..
I hate those people

He might be a "genius" but not a smart business man.... His shyt still isn't on sale in stores????? What's the point of doing that?

You really think tidal didn't cut a check big enough for def jam not to sell the album of one of the most influential artists ever?

You really think a corporation ran by CACS just donated a Kanye west album to tidal?

Let's say 100k people signed up to hear tlop, and 30 percent of those people keep paying 20 x month for the next year...

Y'all don't see how this type of residual income could benefit tidal enough for them to purchase the exclusivity form DJ?

It cost $20? :mjlol:

If people don't want to pay for a $10 album, what makes you think they would want to pay $20 per month for a streaming service, when everyone else who isn't paying still gets to see/hear all of the "exclusives". People have no reason to stay with them after they get the "exclusive" they wanted and the free trial is up, unless they have another "exclusive" that the person is interested in near the end of the free trial. But still, people can cancel and use a different card and email to sign up. Or just wait until someone else steals it and sends it to them.

Yeah I'm sure they won't be able to make a profit even though their amount of subscribers just double after the release of tlop. Sounds like you have this more thoroughly thought out than they do

Those are free trial subscribers, they don't count until they pay after the free trial is up. There is always an increase when there is an exclusive lots of people want, and a decrease after the free trial is over.

i know this, you know this, tidal knows this.

its a numbers game. There is a percentage of new subscribers out of the million or so that signed up that will cancel. there is a percentage that will stay as subscribers. tidal already has data on the percentage of subscribers they will retain.

this tactic will earn them new subscribers and those residuals will more than pay whatever they paid to get this exclusive. if you think there isn't serious anylitics behind a move like this then i think you dont know how these digital companies move in 2016. this aint 1997 where these companies is just throwing out millions and hoping to recoup.

I don't think that would work for long because it will always be the same type of exclusives from the same few people. So the same groups/fans will be joining and canceling.

maybe not. but right now, there a good chance that they cashed in from this and that this particular initiative will be lucrative.

Tidal Subscribtions up over 65%. Ye will still get a Platinum Award when they submit his streaming numbers. Looks like a Total W for Ye and Jay:

It costs 10 bucks, I didn't pay for albums, however I've been paying 10 per month for Spotify though.

If people don't have a streaming service and try one, there's a chance that they get hooked. The objective is to get people to try it, either new streamers or steal costumers from the other people by providing a better experience than their current service.

They need to make some bigger moves though, like landing Ford or something like that.

According to Def Jam, Famous gonna be pushed as a single. Wonder if this indicates he's gonna sell the album after all:patrice:
