Above the fray.

Civil rights attorney Ari Theresa has a few ideas on how the colonization of urban neighborhoods began in Washington DC and how to combat the issue. Theresa has filed a billion dollar suit against DC last year over gentrification. He spoke with Roland Martin during Monday's edition of #RolandMartinUnfiltered.

starts off reporting the statement by H.U. president about outsiders and dogs on campus, then goes right into Ari Theresa suing DC.

No they don’t :heh:

Not every 20 years, he was off with that number but neighborhoods do change and you can use the time period of 1900-2000 and use say Detroit, New York, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh as examples and in the first half of the century, those cities were completely different to how they were in the second half of the century and rapid changes they all experienced by the 1970s (during deindustrialization) and today.... so another 50 years.

All these changed for a myriad of reasons but white flight to the suburbs was one of the main reasons. 50 years later, it's the reverse happening... couple that in with globalization and an unprecedented wealth inequalities that exist in the US and most of the developed world and you have the housing crisis we face in all major cities in the world.

Trust me I understand all that. But this is about DC. There have been a ton of threads on the gentrification of the neighborhood where Howard University is located. That has been a black neighborhood since slavery ended. Dude’s math was off by over 100 years

Should be some type of zoning laws for historical black neighborhoods and spaces
