Yes. It is almost like history is illegal in this country.same morons who never learned what a company town was and the scams those companies ran on the locals and the corruption they lived under..
When people say "things are going to be the worst they've ever been!" As they dread the future i just think "if you read history you would know things can get so much worse"
It used to be that companies were big enough to have their own armies made of mercenaries that they could use to take and hold other people's territory. That's what the Dutch East India company was for example.
You and I read about things like company towns and the east India company and think "horrific" shytstains like donald trump, Peter Thiel, and Elon musk read about that shyt and think "i want to do that now"
I firmly believe these are the three biggest issues keeping things the way they are:
1. Corporate taxes are way too low. The taxes of billionaires are way too low as well.
2. Politicians are addicted to the money they get from lobbyists and the money they are getting from the stocks of the companies they are supposed to be regulating.
3. Recommendation algorithms, betting apps and content monetization constitute a form of digital opium that has the people too hooked on their phones to engage in meaningful resistance.
I think the only way out of this shyt is if the company greed gets so massive that they start trying to charge people to use the apps they are addicted to whilst jobs are scarce. What that means ultimately is that you will have millions of junkies experiencing withdrawal from tiktok, Instagram, twitter, and their gambling apps. They'll be furious and cant distract themselves and cant work and everything will be too expensive whilst out of touch politicians who are benefiting from the status quo and have no credibility only enrage these people more with weak or non existent solutions. It is against their personal financial interests to give meaningful legislation so they will keep trying half measures that only make people angrier and angrier.
It will be very hard if not impossible to control millions of people who have no distractions, no jobs, no hope for the future and most importantly: nothing left to lose.
