It wasn't a 3 based game back then. They didn't grow up shooting 3s because the shot wasn't around for the most part. Nba didn't even introduce it until bird was in the league. Made 0 sense to shoot from 25 ft out back then but it's perfectly normal for this generation to grow up doing it.
