As far as keeping his brand/team relevant for decades, I feel he underrated

Rocafella, Dipset, etc. all eventually fell off but Birdman still :blessed:

literally been pushing hits and selling records for 15+ years

To me Birdman is the greatest rap executive of all-time...eventhough Diddy and Russell probably made more money, they werent able to keep their brands relevant

You have a point but part of that is having a budding star who can have longevity. Birdman has that with Wayne while Diddy lost his (B.I.G)

Had Birdman lost his franchise player right before the apex of his success (after The Carter 2) idk if we're putting him in that same vein. The fact that Diddy lost his yet still has maintained some relevance is a very commendable feat and should be acknowledged in such debate.

Now Birdman probably is one of the more underrated execs but I'd say Jermaine Dupri may be even more underrated.

this is true, but I feel like with Diddy, especially these days, its alot of talk with no substance

he signed some pretty big acts, but he just hasnt been able to take them to that next level

Dupri is very underrated

Him and Slim are crafty...they did in fact lose their initial franchise player in Juvi, one of their main supporting players in BG, and their trademark group in the hot boys and it could've been very easily over at that point....but Big Tymer and Baby solo albums were able to keep the label afloat...Wayne wasn't ready to carry the label back then and he could've very easily ended up with a similar fate as a Lloyd Banks, but they had the foresight and confidence in him to bet the whole house on him and go all in with him as the face of the brand when it was time...they've overhauled the label so many times and kept it relevant

Puff definitely has to be commended for capitalizing on his own celebrity and keeping his brand on top even long after the music slowed down...sean john, ciroc, a budding movie career...he's pretty much an A-list celebrity and gotten filthy rich off of it, despite not really having a super successful bad boy artist in like a decade plus or more

And then of course there's Hov...got the whole famous thing going like puff, while also mastering how to keep himself relevant as a top artist for years and years and years

:comeon: All he did was throw the original roster in the bushes, and got a new flock :skip:

Incredibly he just might be.

I remember when people outside of the south used to think they were just No Limit Clones.

I definitely think he is, CMR started in 1991. How many indie labels from '91 are still not only running but still one of the most successful labels in rap.

Their secret was just they kept reinventing themselves (and getting rid of nikkas). They had their original Local 580 roster and built up a local buzz and then got rid of all them nikkas by 1996, brought in Juve, Wayne and Turk and started the Hot Boys era and got rid of all them nikkas minus Wayne by 2004 and then built the label behind Wayne and made him a star and was able to find Drake and Nicki. Knowing how Baby and Slim are and the history of this label, I wont be surpised if half their roster is gone by next year :pachaha:

I give him props for getting that $30 million from Universal, being able to keep themselves relevant for this long ass time and being able to stay afloat after Juvenile and B.G left
