Now i understand having artists like Nas, Ne-Yo, Anthony Hamilton, Marsha Ambrosius, Killer Mike, Leon Bridges and Lecrae on a soundtrack that represents one of the most powerful and dynamic legends of that era. However, I think those who wanted to market the soundtrack/movie and boost interest to the younger crowds decided to place artists like 2Chainz, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mayne, The Game, Meek Mills on there for recognition.

Your thoughts?

i don't get it, are you insinuating that those artists aren't intelligent? Because 2chainz was a salutatorian and has his bachelors. Even if they aren't typified as woke like some of the other artists, its asinine to think that they can't be inspired by Nat Turner like Lecrae is.

right, but they only threw him on there to make a quick buck because film soundtracks have been fairly popular recently
and having Wayne anywhere near this project.. :scusthov:

Im not insinuating anything. The music speaks for itself, doesn't matter if 2chainz has a college degree or not.

If someone hadn't said it I don't think most people would think 2 Chainz even had a degree. Everything from the way he raps to the dumb sh!t he's gotten himself into would lead me to conclude he's anything but educated and mature. That's what he presents to the public anyway. Same with Gucci Maine, a bonafide idiot. Game's on the soundtrack too, while at the same time in a beef that involves Pirus, snitching, fair ones, the potential for real violence, etc..

Still, to be fair, as mentioned earlier those artists can still be inspired by this piece of history. Admittedly though it does look a bit contradictory having certain artists on the soundtrack considering the theme of the film. Then again, the film is about rebellion, so maybe it is fitting to have those artists on the project.
