I got to see Biz DJ a bunch of times & he was always dope! I hope the documentary does him justice.
I saw him DJ twice. Once in my city. The other time my cousin was opening for him so I had backstage passes. He was the nicest guy. The first thing i remember when meeting him, he was tall as fuk. I had no idea he was like 6'5". He hit the state ON TIME for the first set(no lauryn hill shyt) when he came back thru, I talked with him and he signed my cd inserts. Including the I need a Haircut album that was pulld from the shelves. Watching it now and it's dope. Biz Markie is the reason I started collecting club and show fliers. I saw Rhyme and Reason documentary and that Biz had all of those fliers from 20 years prior so I started doing that a couple years later. I have a shoe box filled with them along with a big picture book. Biz Markie inspired me to do that. Plus I got a flier from one of his DJ shows hahaha

I didn’t realize he had spent a whole year in the hospital and died there, that’s crazy. It was a great documentary, Showtime had a marathon of all their hip hop documentaries leading up the premiere. His death hit everyone he knew hard, he was one of a kind and that comedic aspect he brought to hip hop was different from everything else at the time.
