It's a real shame. His first album basically was the blueprint for a lot of our favorite rappers and producers for that matter. Marley Marl as well. If you ask me, that shyt should be way above Illmatic in terms of changing the landscape of rap. How many rappers sampled him alone from that one album? He wasnt the best rapper but he was an emcee.

Crazy when you think about how the government pretty much went after him in its continuing war on hip hop with the sampling laws issue. They couldn't get nwa or 2livecrew but they got the biz. shyt literally changed rap overnight.

He's one of those old school rappers where I hear his music and I'm just instantly in a good mood. Shock G/Digital Underground is another one. They brought fun into the game in a real special way.

What's the latest on Biz health? Hope he's doing better.

Highly highly respected in the old school rap world, foresaw how hip hop was changing, kinda spearheaded the change. Responsible for the development of Big Daddy Kane and others. Today only kids who watched Yo Gabba Gabba know him.

I agree, well I think he does with some older people but he's rarely mentioned when talking about old school hip hop... I think some people see him as a gimmick or something.

The "Vapors" is still one of my favorite songs/videos of all time, I felt that even as a kid

His stuff is ghostwritten and he's from the era that's stacked with talent :manny:

nobody looked at him as a dope MC tho. he was more of a commedian/entertainer. stacked with talent but he stood out. he was popular because he was funny. he was the anti-Rakim

He’s not. Kane wrote most of his shyt and he wasn’t a stand out like that during his era. U had jokish raps from Fresh Prince and Dana Dane.

Now if we talking Djing, maybe.
