Two non cac global appropriated giants in pop culture.

Black pop culture has the disadvantage of not having its own country to project its influence like Japanese do with a first world nation such as japan. But the American media might has made this culture a force in global pop culture in music, through pop icons, fashion etc. The Japanese have some of the most global appropriated art through Anime and video game culture. Which one do you think ultimately comes out on top:ohhh:

It works for japan as far as technological output/consumerism -electronics,automobile etc. But not for raw pop culture.

nah i disagree. Lets be real. from anime to video games japanese pop culture has a huge impact around the globe DBZ final fantasy....mother fukkers spending BILLIONS on japanese pop culture. and they own their infrastructure and distribution. So I dont think that black american pop culture can compete with them at this point in time for those last two reasons alone.

Not trying to shyt on black people but black people dont control or have an infrastructure.

Cats spend billions on black American culture as well. Anime is generally a youth culture its not reaching the lengths that black American pop culture is reaching. From old to young music is way more relevant than dbz or any other anime

At this point Id say that black american culture has become generally a youth culture particularly our music forms. That shyt is aimed at the young and most older people cant identify with it. I'd say that anime kind of transcends the youth at this point just like regular american comic books and cartoon series. And music vs tv is very opinion based argument... so im not going to bother.

But my point still stands. The japanese own their own infrastructure, distribution and control their own media machine....that alone puts them in a more powerful position that us.

It has nothing really to do with the business of it though. Pop culture is an intangible. Its more about influence. If it was all about business than blacks would have no influence. You got the japanese seeing black culture as a way of life, that's influence. We may like their electronics, anime etc but they cant equate to that

And as far as pop cultural icons. Black America has produced more global giants. As in people like Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Pac etc
