I feel like the only person I would even begin a dialogue with is the "Dirt Bag" guy. Africans werent the only people called African booty-scratcher. I was called that for being dark with short starter locs in elementary school.
I do agree that it is a very hurtful derogatory term. I just looked at it as ignorance because being an AA myself, I know not every AA thinks like that. It's only a certain group of ignorant people.

...yeah tearing eachother down for jokes is transcendent no matter the region...kids are the most ruthless with that from 5th grade to junior high...we used to call it blowing or ranking on eachother during my school days..i have been a victim of it an even served it..i agree the best way to counter it is to snap back...like you said nothing was really off limits in these situations so it wasn't just darkskin or nappy hair(which speaks volumes about the household they were raised in to think either was a insult,) offbrand shoes/clothes, raggedy house,anything,etc .i sum it up to immaturity and craving attention...most grow out of if with age.
