Black Artist makes popular song on tiktok. Chinese person copies it without giving credit. Tiktok turns around and mutes the Black Artist.

That chick should know better. Its 2022 and folks still putting shyt on SM for free and then get mad when somebody take it. Stop giving away free game trying to get on. Gotta remember just cause they tap a heart don't mean they love you enough to do the right thing. Black folk gotta get out that mindset. These folks don't love you and never will.
I wonder how long it's going to take to realize this on a mass level, I really do.

What difference would it make if she uploaded her work to a black owned social media platform?

South Korean star dancer NO:ZE unveiled Dance with NO:ZE on Friday, a non-fungible token (NFT) project that sets out to safeguard intellectual properties of choreographers with blockchain technology.

Fast facts

  • “The choreographies created so far have not been copyrighted,” NO:ZE said in her video announcement. “With NFT technology, dance choreographies can be properly recognized as intellectual properties, and [NFT] holders can earn profits.”
  • NO:ZE rose to superstardom in South Korea after appearing on Street Woman Fighter, a dance survival television program centered around eight female dance groups.
  • Dance with NO:ZE will issue 10,000 profile pictures (PFP) using NO:ZE’s real-life pictures and three sets of NO:ZE’s original choreography as NFTs.
  • Each NFT is priced at 500,000 Korean won, or around US$385, and will be airdropped to the Kaikas wallet on the Klaytn blockchain, according to the project website.

The Coli going hard for a non binary black person eh? Guessing y’all just don’t realize yet. The bigotry is yet to come I’m sure :skip:
Real black folks that were raised within our culture dont even recognize that goofy ass can shyt. Until she gets exposed for saying/doing some fukk shyt against black people, she gets access to our support.

My kneejerk is and will always be "build our own"
:francis:
The tricky thing about services like this is that if you build an alternative the storage and bandwidth requirements from all the streaming audio/video is cost prohibitive. As a matter a fact I don't think any of these services have ever turned a serious profit until years after the fact.

Services like YouTube, Instagram, vine, snapchat, etc etc had to be bought out by bigger companies to survive or just straight up died. I think YouTube went yeeeeears coasting on investment dollars without making a profit.

:jbhmm:
EDIT:
A peer to peer decentralized implementation where content is housed on individual users computers talking to one another (instead of/in addition to) a central server would be the way forward for a "basement software developer" who doesn't have the financial backing of large investors.

Peer to Peer software Examples:
  • blockchain
  • bittorrent
  • napster
NOTE: while the frontend a user sees would look like any other YouTube, tiktok, Instagram, etc site the backend technology that dictates how the video is searched, pulled, and served would be peer to peer.
I understand the peer to peer idea, but that shyt is the quickest way to end up with rogue crackers and scammers bricking people’s phones and computers. As you said the solution is way more complex than “build your own” but having things hosted in a central hub with all that computer muscle keeps you free from a few bad actors fukking up everyone who comes across it.
