THIS thread is a really good example of why we DON'T have nice things. You don't have to like him or even like his work but to just blatantly shyt on him when he is pioneering something in black media that hasn't been done before & is giving other young black up & coming directors, editors, screenwriters jobs that they normally wouldn't even get looked at for is amazing.
I personally know a director who shot a short out of his own pocket... shopped it to several studios who wouldn't even give him the time a day & happened to run into Tyler Perry at a hotel in Atlanta. He took his movie, called him back 3 weeks later & offered him $80,000 on the spot to come work for his studio for a year & get better at his craft.
I'm not a fan of his recent work... I enjoyed his plays more then his movies but I don't hate or judge or mock people who do enjoy what he does. Who cares if he had to get financial help from dirty money when this board praises daily artists who do waaaaaaaay more cultural damage that are backed by sheisty drug dealers who sell poison to YOUR communities. Most successful businesses were started with shady money.
White people support their own... Mexicans will support & die for their own... Asians support their own... but we will dissect & tear down our own because we may disagree with their products...
Smh... I don't even care for the nikka like that but he's doing great things FOR black people that you aren't aware of... his movies are just a small part of a much BIGGER PICTURE...

I congratulate over accomplishments in the realm of entertainment, but I do not take pride in it. So yea, he has done well in what he does in my opinion, and deserves to be congratulated.
