The type of hatred behind this is deeply entrenched, even before the first Englishman set foot in modern day America.
Too deeply entrenched to reverse, which is why the couple aren't trying to "change images" , but taking LEGAL action.
Whites felt and acted this way when The Cosby Show was #1 rated show and Bill Cosby was embraced as America's Dad and broadcasting positive Black family unit 24/7.
Fighting to adjust and expand the Black image in mainstream media makes sense for two reasons. To correct the facts for record, and for the benefit of Black children so that they don't feed into/accept/copy the limited caricatures that they see of people who look like them.
Thinking that it will have an effect on changing long held stereotypes and views from whites, is misguided. In my opinion.
I'm inclined to agree with the other poster but you make a good point.
Hate is a priori to propaganda.
You get rid of the propaganda or what fuels the propaganda and the hate is still there.
If we "hypothetically" got rid of various forms of our cultural expression that we deem detrimental, the cunningness of white supremacy will shift to demonizing some other aspect of our lives.
During slavery, the propaganda "boogyman" was a lettered slave. If a slave could read and properly understand the Bible, they could understand the deception and hypocrisy of a "Christian nation" espousing slavery. They could rally other slaves, and plan insurrections.
During Reconstruction, the boogyman was the black business and political leaders who were acquiring fortunes and political clout that would shift the balance of power.
During the years of the Great Migration, the boogyman was the southern migrant who would come up and take the jobs of the white ethnic immigrants.
During the Civil Rights era, the boogyman was the black person integrating into white spaces, causing fear that the value of neighborhoods and schools would decline.
Our history shows that white supremacy will just shift and regroup to some other aspect of our lives so it's a fools errand to try to police ourselves for that reason.
Policing ourselves for ourselves is another matter altogether.

Y’all can’t listen to drill music and use bad grammar/spelling talking bout’ stereotypes.
