My last was in 07 but I have noticed my fanily is a lot more distant since my grandmother passed 
If you havent done a family reunion in decades, get serious and start planning that shyt with a few cousins. Start a family group chat with EVERYONE . Aunties, uncles, OG's, cousins, grandparents, in-laws. everyone. plan it there.
We planned ours for about a year and it was so worth it.

One issue people won't admit is the fact that Africans were ripped from their families, forced as slaves. Had no choice but to mix with tribes that were not there's. People are finding out today everybody doesn't have the same ideas and thoughts. The facade of family has worn off, when you figure out commonality is gone. You don't believe the same thing and don't live the same way.
I believe it.. reunions in my family only really happen on the cousin level now and that hasn't happened in some time

It's def declining. It's palpable.
I can only speak to my experience. My family used to throw reunions every 2 years. But now it's dropped to 4 years and is dropping.
Some of it is the loss of the elders.
Some of it is also the Northern members feel a little tired because we do it in Thomson GA every time and we used to mix it up but the GA relatives are working class/poor and can't afford to make the trip up north so that causes tension.

My family still have get togethers and family reunions. My grandmother died 2 years and that made them go harder in the paint for more family events. What’s even crazier, to me at least, is that my father side is often at my mother’s side events.

I can guarantee you... researchers have have absolutely ZERO tabs on the family Reunions that I was apart of as a kid.

I just went to one on my dad’s side this past weekend. It was what I needed since I Lost my mom in March and my Aunt (her sister) in April. It showed me I really need to do more get togethers with my people cause you never know when the last time you’ll see someone.
