This dude seems pretty smart. 48 at the time of the video so he was around in the 80s/90s. AIDS/HIV rates are increasing amongst black and brown men again and I truly think it's heavily influenced by a decade plus of denial about this shyt. There used to be pretty honest convos about this shyt - anal sex amongst men has a high risk of contracting AIDS/HIV. That's just a scientific fact. But somewhere down the line the way we talk about shyt got warped, and words like equality and equity have been hijacked by people who refuse to acknowledge differences in outcomes. No, it's not sexist to tell a pregnant woman she shouldn't smoke/drink. No, it's not homophobic to tell a gay man that he is more at risk of HIV/AIDS. Anything that brings black men together to create bonds and hold each other down in society is a win in my book. The Greek thing is kinda weird though and anyone with some knowledge of the original Greek fraternities and society knows about the rituals and encouragement of creating bonds through sexual activity in the army,higher education and in their polytheistic religion by novices and ordained priests alike. But imo the good outweighs the possibly non Harlem activities from a few DL cats.
