My area is going to vote on becoming a city, but the CACs are opposed.

They're bringing up every other excuse, but I feel like they're afraid of being governed by ppl that don't look like them.

Anyways... what's the best example of a Black run city/state/nation?

I think Miami Gardens is pretty nice, but the CACs will say their taxes are too high.

I'm not gonna lie...the lack of responses in militant ass TLR got me thinking that the CACs might be right

Find well run cities first…a lot of what I expect your council to push back on, given you’re in Florida, would have to do with politics of a city and not necessarily race of the person running it. Like San Francisco - it’s been run by a white man, Asian man, and now black woman and has had the same critiques/criticism about it throughout.

You’re gonna need to look more at suburbs. I’m not familiar enough with local politics here but I assume some of these Maryland suburbs are well run, but they also all have county taxes on top of state and federal so I can see that being an L too

Yeah...you're right about needing to define what well-run means.

I chalked it up as basic services being met while balancing the budget and avoiding corruption scandals. That said, I looked it Memphis and it seemed like a very fine city. Although, it's not run by Blacks like Miami Gardens is. The mayor of Memphis a a few commissioners are White.

We have a neighboring city there, Opa-Locka, that's damn near insolvent. Got the whites scared to vote in favor of another Black-run city.
