Him, Otis Boykin and other black engineers /inventors from the Jim Crow era and down accomplished so much in spite of living in an era that was WOAT to be afram. It’s why no matter what challenges I face I think back to what our ancestors went up against and I gather myself to go through the finish line.

Thomas Edison sued him for his invention claiming Granville did not invent it. The courts decided in favor of Granville.

After Granville won, Edison then tried to hire Granville to work for him.

This is the same Edison who had another Black man, Louis Lattimer, working for him - the one who wrote the first book on electric lighting and is credited with the filament. They say Edison invented the lightbulb, but I truly believe it was Louis and since he worked for Edison, Edison got the credit.

Thankfully, Granville didn't work for Edison.

Actually Sam Whitney and Jo Anderson lived in the worst era for Black inventers, because people don't even know who they were because they were slaves which allowed the world to attribute their work to Eli Whitney and Cy McCormick. The same for Henry Boyd who invented a bed called the tester bed, but he had to partner with a White man named George Porter to patent it.
