I thought Christianity was all about forgiving sin? 
Are we not all sinners in the eyes of God? So how / why is this different than gorging yourself at a buffet or getting a divorce? Surely none of her congregation are divorced and still calling themselves Christians, right?

A big part of the draw for some churches is the obsessively anti-secular stance that was a lot more palatable in the early 20th century than it is now.
Most people in the congregation were rolling their eyes - I used to hear this rhetoric a lot more when I was a kid and our pastor was hyper-conservative.
