I hate most black movies. I got forced to watch Selma today, about 10 minutes into the movie I just pulled out my phone and just started reading. I'm just sick of black movies always being about the same damn thing. Like black people are so much more than the Civil Rights Movement and slavery, we have so many more interesting stories but they keep showing the same damn thing. Like how many movies can you make about that?

Now on the other side, we got shyt like Tyler Perry and his movies and movies like them. Usually about a down-trodden black woman with a no good man, she finds the Lord and then she finds a good man. Same damn shyt over and over.

I personally wouldn't mind more slave movies. I honestly can't take a black actor seriously without shackles on or a defeated look in their eye.

the key is, not to look at the present for the good black movies, but to the past. black movies only come in spurts, here and there...
