I think Stevie Wonder should be next and that's self explanatory. I wouldn't mind if they got Jennifer Hudson, Luke James maybe HER for a singer/instrumentalist and Usher to round it out.

He's the ppl who have already gotten honored so no repeats.

i hate how the current list resembles who kanye sampled, collaborated with, namedropped, or looks up to -- there has to be a bigger scope than just that

there's a lot of people missing who need their flowers...Parliament, Curtis Mayfield, Ohio Players, Funkadelic, Isaac Hayes, Marvin Gaye, Sly & the Family Stone, Ahmad Jamal, Kool & the Gang, Barry White, Lyn Collins, Willie Hutch, Stevie Wonder, The J.B.'s, Donny Hathaway, Lonnie Liston Smith, Rick James, people who paved the way...and then the obvious ones like Biggie, 2Pac, Nas, Jay-Z, LL Cool J...

people who have been sampled more than 100 times that regular fans still don't recognize or pay tribute

the show would be people who sampled them and could perform their cover versions, etc

diddy getting that reward this year just shows how the committee is rigged/tone deaf given that BET is owned by viacom...

BET is just as myopic about genre as the other mainstream artists. They hyperfocus on Hip Hop and R&B with a sprinkle of Black pop artists.

1) Pop and R&B needs to be separate categories.
2) Black jazz, country, folk AND rock artists should have a presence at this show. It's unacceptable that they don't.
