:leon: I gotta use this when someone tries to pull the whole "mew slaves" argument for athletes and tries to bash sports because of this rationalization.
I've said this many times before on the forum. The easiest way to get me pissed off is to use the term slave loosely. Say God's name in vain all you want. But slave and slavery??? Even if i agreed with your point I'll rationalize the opposite point of view be arguing against yours for using that term alone/

Who the hell is going to create teams, design logos, make jerseys, organize front offices, initiate PR, build/rent arenas, negotiate marketing agreements, sign TV/radio deals, and everything else that comes with the decades of work it takes to build a professional sports league?

These guys are professional athletes. Athletes. Not entrepreneurs. Not lawyers. Not business men.
Hell, most of these guys don't even have the equivalent of a 2 year Associates degree from a community college, but you want them to pool together and replicate a multi-billion dollar industry?
I hate racist arrogant cac owners as much as the next guy, but this is literally a waste of time to even think about.
Wow, exactly what I was thinking.

You are looking at the obstacles too mch and not focussing on the goal, doggy.

Is this how you look at life in general. Again, noone said it would be easy. You have to give up something. And the goal is to lure the Wiggins and young players aways from the NBA Wasnt there two or three basketball leagues at some point competing?
Well you can't go into this with blinders either. The Maloofs (former owners of the Sacramento Kings) wanted to move the Kings (an NBA team) to Anahiem but the Lakers and Clippers stopped them. If they can stop an NBA team from moving into their area, the most definitely can stop some upstart team from playing in LA. Also this not working for ownership, most of these players will still be working for someone in the new league unless you really think all the players will sign on to and equal share of the new Black league? If I'm Lebron or Kobe, no way I'm taking the same amount of ownership as Booby Gibson. The better plan is to go play for MJ in Charlotte and/or be ready for when one of these NBA teams go on sale and bid. Seattle is coming, Lakers will probably go on sale soon. I'd rather be the owner of one of those teams even if its a minority share and work my way up from there.:yeshrug:

There will never be a "black owned league"

What they need to be focusing on is changing perimeters that the league they are in now is run, now that dictator Stern is gone. These fools have way more power then they even know. Look at the mass hysteria Marshawn Lynch caused by doing nothing.

Why is Dolan not getting fined for responding to an email and Amare Stoudemire got fined $50k for doing the same thing on twitter.
Why are techs being handed out for saying "uh uh", and "gotdammit"

The shyt is crazy and the players need to step up before this league is 50% Euro/Cac.. More and more it's becoming a 2 hour three point shooting contest.

Look at what they have done in the NFL: Changed to rules so that the position that's predominately white person is the most valued, while the position that is predominately black has been devalued.

Some of these QB's throw the ball for 7 yards,a and depending on what the RB or WR does gets credited with a 70 yard pass play. :wtf:

Im telling you, shyt's getting out of hand and the playing need to step up and say something.

Doggy i dont know the intricate details of how this would happen. I majored in engineering. Not business or finance or law. I'll let those people do the thinking of how to trnasition. I hear what you're saying but i just dont think it's impossible. A great challenge? YES. Will everyone have to sacrifice? YES. If you read my other posts in the thread you would see that my aim is not to create a "black league" . I want sports leagues where ownership is mostly composed of former athletes.

100% agree.

Dudes on here acting like the NBA was created overnight. :heh: By the time you were able to get things decently in place, dudes like Lebron, Durant etc would be long retired. And whoever comes up behind them, how are you going to pay them without super rich owners? Where will they play? Some dusty ass arena little to no A/C.....ask Lebron how no-A/C worked out for him. :mjpls:

And let's not act like white players have been worthless in the framework of NBA history. The NBA is the blackest league percentage wise, guaranteed contracts, most star power for endorsements.....and y'al wanna eff it up. :mjlol:

Some of you guys need to go to outside and make friends.

they can play in hbcu arenas:sas2:

The quality of play would be weak if this happened. Let's say all of the best players in the NBA created their own league. They would be able to take that risk because they have more financial stability than the lesser players. There would be a huge talent discrepancy between the stars and everybody else.

I say that because the current owners would combat this move by securing all of the B tier players with higher salaries. A new league would consist of superstars and dudes off the street... Majority of the other guys would stay where they are and reap the benefits of the guys ahead of them moving on

Not all NBA players are making dough like that to do such a thing...they playing they asses off to eventually get a good contract, what makes you think these black owners will all be able to generate enough to pay these less fortunate players?
Aiyo OP. Slaves were forced to do work for no currency. Are these NBA players who are rich beyond their own means and FREELY playing slaves? :camby:

A shame, isn't it.

A bigger point: even if black players and investors had the ability to make their own league (and any player is welcomed, not just black players) there simply isn't the political and social will to do so.

I mean, we are talking about players who had the ability to make a very strong stance during the Donald Sterling situation, but decide a game and not ruffling feathers was more important, even though their contracts are already guaranteed.

I doubt it happens in my lifetime, but a man can dream, right?:yeshrug:

that right there was the chance for the players to gain some control. but they choose to play. see changes could have been made right there.
