looked up the prices in my area and it was twice as much as Uber. $67 to get into the city. He's gonna have to find a way to lower prices

come on brehs. our shyt just can be some comic blaxploitation version of the other shyt, but more expensive. and we're suppose to be ok with that because it's a black founded company moovn us around?

:mjcry: Its hard out here man, gotta understand prices will be up for black owned anything. We don't have a lot of support out here and it hurts that you have to ask for extra so you can support your company and yourself.

Well there is one near me named Fasten, so Moovn doesn't sound too terrible to me. :yeshrug:

Yes breh, we should be. Obviously Black people starting businesses from the scratch aren't going to have the same resources and access as these white startups who get billions pumped into them from the jump.

Y'all want Black businesses to just open up and be ready to compete with major corporations and shyt and it's not going to work like that. If you're really committed to the betterment of Black America financially overall, it'll probably mean more money out of your pocket NOW but hopefully for your children and grandchildren the strong institutions will have been built off of those SMALL sacrifices you made today. If you're just worried about yourself and how to get everything the cheapest keep running to white people and thirty years from now still be complaining about the weak Black economy. :yeshrug:

the name aint that bad, the issue is you basically can't beat Uber or Lyft. they can easily price out ALL competition. they are behemoths, a few years ago Uber raised 10Bn in capital in 1 round of funding, you just cant compete on that level. ( fyi apple is worth 70Bn)

Uber has crazy amounts of investors to fund their prices for a strategic version. I'm sure the breh doesn't have access to a similar amount of capital.

Sorry, I can't afford to pay $60 to get a ride into the city, lol. He either needs to be more creative to make the prices more reasonable, or he should have found an industry with lower barriers to entry. If it was an extra $5 dollars, that'd be one thing. But it's twice the price. But I don't live very close to the city, so maybe if you're only going a couple miles, it's more competitive.

What's the difference between Moovn and Lyft? :mjpls:

One is a differently spelled version of a word used in a common expression questioning the need for a ride and the other sounds like a transport service for cattle?

If you want to support a black owned business, you should probably find a company creating a market or in the mix when a space is being created because any black owned startup probably isn't creating a business to cater to black people, but to get acquired.

Then we should focus on industries that have less price sensitivity and can appeal to a target market through differentation.

It's not realistic to expect black people to pay significantly more for the same service/goods that they can get from a major corporation.

Clothing, restaurants, entertainment, are less price sensitive and those industries we can grow in without huge amounts of capital. Even niche markets related to high end goods and services, are areas we can penetrate. But generic mass market goods and services, we aren't going to compete unless we do a fierce job of obtaining capital.

What we can also do is be better at creating our own VC, Private Equity, angel investor groups that can fund these type of businesses to put in them in position to be competitive in the market.
