What they fail to understand is the difference between racism and prejudice. We all have prejudices. We can't be all racist though. Racism denotes power and influence. Blacks in American can't be racist because any prejudices we do have can't affect the lives of those we detest negatively. We don't have the juice. So the term racist holds so much weight they'll do anything to redirect that away from them cause it's a fitting label. Even to those that don't directly influence everyday life. They continue to teach it or refrain from educating against it which indirectly leads to those who do/will influence power structures. It's a cycle. And if you do nothing to change it you're just as guilty.
