I saw a friend tweet that, in light of the killing of Mike Brown, she feels very alone at work. She said it was as if everyone else (non-blacks) is just continuing on with their day as if nothing happened while she's sitting at her desk with her mind racing back and forth and unable to focus because she just keeps thinking about the injustice of it all. And she said she felt the same during and after the Trayvon Martin trial.

Because of our various situations, a lot of black people, especially those in the professional and educational realms, don't have anyone to talk to at work even though you should be able to with the people who occupy 1/3 of your day.

I really wanted some unfiltered thoughts from people on here because I think the psychology of the whole situation is phenomenal. It's like a light PTSD for something you've never experienced, but can certainly relate to, to the point where your daily functions are slightly inhibited. Is there a psychological/social "term" for that?

For those on here, how do you feel? What are your thoughts and feelings right now? This board should be a place where people share thoughts on this, not just on some anger shyt, but on thoughts and feelings as well.

Also, be sure to stick together out here y'all. If you have a friend, check on them and make sure they are okay. Try to have lunch with your friends and share thoughts on the subject because I know a lot of people are thinking right now and some may need a safe place to vent or even come up with ideas. If your children go to school, talk to them about the subject and make sure they are okay, especially if they go to a predominantly white school. Try to link up with other black parents at your school and really get some dialogue going and think about how educate and talk to your children about these subjects.

I wouldn't say I feel any different, really.

But I feel odd about that because I should. I mean, I live in the same state where this Mike Brown situation jumped off,
and my sister and niece used to live not far from there. I felt more relieved that they don't anymore, than surprised
that this took place. It was just a normal day at work for me, as well.

I think i've just come to terms with the fact that this happens. Early.

I'm a West Coast born and raised baby. I know what law enforcement does to us.

Typing this out just now, I had an epiphany: this may be part of why I try not to tie myself to things/people
(I realized some time ago that I have abandonment issues)...it's like...part of me feels like it's not a stretch for me
to die in a similar manner, and I don't wanna leave behind a wife, or a child/children. I've already got my affairs
in order in the event of emergency/demise.

I'm rambling...back on topic, I don't have much conversation at work outside of the weather, what happened in sports for a few seconds, etc.,
because I have a pretty fast-paced work day.

As a non US citizen I wanted to continue living in the US upon completing my studies but after seeing what has happened in the last two years, hell even the last two days, I don't want to have anything to do with this country when I'm done with my education.

because if the case was reversed ,the murderer would have been jailed or would have gotten lethal injection in a heart beat..

dumbass c00n..

Listen to your stupid ass. I said if the situation was reversed meaning the murdered hot away too ... Most black people wouldn't give a damn. They go on with their own life. You see what I'm saying? Why should random whites opinion matter? Where they the ones who murdered?

Nah they treat it with indifference and your getting upset cause they don't care about something that doesn't concern their random cac ass?

When the Zimmerman verdict went down I was chillin with my then roommate who is white, but he's conscious. Facebook was hot as fvck. People were deleting each other left and right.

An older friend of mine, a real estate agent, who is Black, came thru the spot. Started telling me that I have to "couch" my emotions about this situation and keep moving with my business. "It's not like they're killing Black people every day. We do that to ourselves!" :camby:

I couldn't take much more of that sh!t so I told him to leave me be and he did.

Later that day my roommate invited a pair of his fashion industry connects over to chop it up about summer events and business connects. One of the guys was younger, upper 20s, early 30s and white, the other was older, 40s-50s, Black, and gay.

The white dude was over the top with his reaction. Trying to reassure me that everything would be okay. I think dude was off that blow. I had to check him that night. Never saw dude again.

The Black dude was in outer space. Dude let me know point blank that he couldn't care less about the plight of Black men in America. That summer for him was all about the gay thing and as far as he was concerned he was winning. Bleh.

Thankfully those two left after about an hour.

People were seeing that I didn't take the news too well on Facebook. A local promoter booked me a table and bottles for the night. He didn't say what it was for, but we both knew it was the least that could be done about the situation.

That night I took me and a few of my buddies to the club and we popped some of the most bitter sweet champagne that night. It felt… weird.

The whole night did. All white people that night were looking at Black people like we were about to rage out. Rightfully so. I was ready to explode.

Despite all the human contact I felt alone. Helpless. Lost. Angry. It was like Obama lost to McCain or something.

That Trayvon shyt had me losing my mind. Hell, it still rips me up whenever people crack slick jokes about it.

no, but it lets people's true colors show
I wouldn't expect my coworkers to discuss this issue nonstop but if they speak out in support of say, Zimmerman or the Ferguson Police Department, you know that they truly don't give a fukk about black people and I can't associate with them.

Your friend needs to wake up and stop seeking validation or sympathy from these cacs. A black person should never let their guard down and get to comfortable around them. When someone declares your their enemy and shows disregard for murdering your people in cold blood you dont question why... just accept the fact that they have declared war and conduct your self accordingly. the fight for blacks humanity didnt end in the 60s. black folks just got too comfortable..
