I think General Mills is really onto something with their line of 'Carbe Diem" pastas. Today I enjoyed the rotini with homemade Bolognese. There's a VERY slight difference in texture from the regular pasta that I'm used to, but not enough difference to make a difference. Not grainy and off-putting like whole grain pasta is. And at 660 calories for an entire box: count me in. It does take almost twice the time to boil but that's definitely not a deal breaker. The other drawback is that it's not as cheap. At 3.99 a box it's a little pricier but definitely not out of my price range. Overall, I enjoy it because it means I can have pasta that's ALMOST guilt-free.

I do like to spend more on my pasta for the quality when I can. I prefer the Italian-made non-enriched pastas because I know they didn't strip all of the nutrients from the wheat and try to add them back.

But this isn't always feasible. I like to shop for buy-one get-one free deals but that kind of pasta is rarely an option. And with where I am right now I would rather have low carb and low calorie if I don't have to sacrifice texture.
